Proper Tax Resolution will not happen by simply selecting an arbitrary dollar amount and mailing it off to the IRS as though it were an apology. Nor will a tax debt disappear by trying to "outsmart" an IRS agent. In order to get the best deal (i.e. - the greatest reduction in debt) you must use the established system and know how to calculate the lowest acceptable settlement and properly prove your case. 

Unlike many tax "negotiators", our approach is not based on confrontation with the IRS.  Instead, we have studied how the IRS’s own programs and procedures can be used to maximize the benefit to our clients. The approach we have developed is very efficient. By using the methods that the IRS itself has set up for Tax Resolution, our work can usually be done without any face to face contact with the IRS.  You may be surprised to learn that many people can completely resolve their tax debt issues by simply having us put the right information on the right forms and showing them the right person to send it to at the IRS. In their zeal to reclaim the funds that they believe are owed, IRS agents have a real tendency to apply intimidation tactics to their collections activities, even going so far as to "bend" the rules that they themselves are supposed to be enforcing. And owing to the fact that most individuals are woefully under-educated when it comes to exercising their Taxpayer's Rights, these scare-tactics usually work. But rather than truly resolving the tax debt issue, the agent's forcefulness usually only prods the unfortunate taxpayer into a repayment agreement which cannot be maintained and will be certain to cause future hardship.
